The things are going too good for Microsoft, as it introduced a new Skype’s blur background. Life is changeable, which is why Microsoft introduced background blur in Skype video calls. Skype’s says, “We’ve all had those moments: You’re about to video call your parents and your laundry is all over the place. Or you are about to have a meeting with a potential investor and your business plan is on a whiteboard behind you.”

The admired video calling service has launched a new background blur feature. That feature cleverly blurs the backdrop while leaving the subject in sharp focus. Well this will create a alike bokeh effect to that found in phone camera portrait modes.

Skype’s blur background

This new addition to video calls takes the pressure out of live-streamed chats by putting the focus on you and only you. Most of the time, the users apply artificial intelligence trained in human-form detection, Skype does its best to ensure your background is always blurred. But the company did admit it “cannot guarantee” a 100 percent achievement rate.

The setting was introduced into testing versions and preview constructs of the apps almost a month ago. But the Microsoft has made it public for Windows, MacOS and Linux versions of the desktop app. When using the latest version of Skype for a call, users can hover their cursor over the video icon to reveal additional video settings. This includes the new ‘blur my background’ toggle.

The new feature utilizes AI that has reportedly been trained to detect the human form and keep it in focus. The artificial intelligence system works with individual attention paid to features that typically shift such as hair, hands and arms. While Skype seems to be willing to help female users with this new addition, it’s also clearly hedging its bets with that disclaimer.
